"To
be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognized need of the
human soul"
Simon
Weil, The Need For Roots
The
true cost of relocating employees and their families extends well beyond
the numbers captured by typical accounting.
Today,
the unplanned turnover rate of a relocated employee is 3-4 times greater
than one who has not moved. (The average cost of losing an employee
is in excess of $50,000).
More
than 90% of surveyed respondents who relocated for a new position,
noted there were adjustment challenges created for their families.
(Companies may incorrectly assume their relocation service provider
has "taken
care of everything")
Some
companies now recognize the value of providing their people with timely,
additional insight and support regarding the entire Triangle area and
what it has to offer, before they start making important relocation
decisions.
With
intense competition for the best new hires and more resistance to uprooting
families, companies are also looking for effective ways to differentiate
and improve the relocation experience.
"We
had an absolutely wonderful experience. There is no doubt in our
minds, had we not had the opportunity to spend a full day with you,
we would have been very disoriented and disorganized in our approach
to relocation. Thursday made Friday that much more beneficial and
useful. We have an idea of where to look, what to look for and for
interests that align with our needs."
And
here is more of what people say about their experience
